NOTE: The USS Reciprocity is a covert operations vessel used by Star Fleet Intelligence and Special Operations Command.

Lineage

The USS Reciprocity is the first Star Fleet vessel to carry the name. The word reciprocity, in Federation Standard, is a noun which means "the practice of exchanging things with others for mutual benefit, especially privileges granted by one country or organization to another".

Current: USS Reciprocity, ES-17413
Vessel Class: Cicero Class

Vessel Dedication Quote

Commanding Officers

Lieutenant Commander Solek (21704.18 - Present)

Specifications

The following are alterations made by SFSCOCOM and Star Fleet Intelligence to refit the standard ES class to a Special Operations/Covert Operations vessel. Enhancements include modifications to warp power, sensors, and stealth capabilities. (See below.)

Warp Engines: 2 Main Warp Engines (Type 9x integrated-enhanced)
Cruise Speed: Warp 7.0
Maximum Sustainable Speed: Warp 9.2
Emergency Speed: Warp 9.5 (12 hour automatic shutdown)
Defensive Enhancement: Modified Shield Emitters for Stealth Field, Ablative Armor
Other Defense: Emergency Ejection of Bridge Module as short range escape pod
Computer System: Daystrom Industries HSCS-4E (Enhanced for extra function)
Sensor Array: Andorian Industries FSMSA-1S (Modified to work in stealth)

Modifications

The USS Reciprocity has been given a special operations profile, as opposed to the support profile that an ES class normally has. Due to this the ship has been fitted with a slightly oversized warp core to power ablative armor and a stealth field similar to that used on the USS Columbia. When this field is in play, the ship is harder to target and detect on sensors, and is visually cloaked. This field uses the ship's primary shield emitters and reduces shield power by 40% when in use.

Designed by SFSOCOM engineers, the device is a modified version of the stealth technology tested on the USS Columbia’s Type 9X Shuttlecraft. The original technology featured light-bending abilities that made the shuttlecraft invisible to the naked eye as well as sensor interference technology that allowed it to mimic the conditions that produce sensor glitches and ghosts on the equipment of most known governments and manufacturers. It did not fully hide itself, however, in accordance with the Treaty of Algeron. After the destruction of Bajor and several key Federation facilities by an unknown and potentially new enemy, the decision was made to upgrade the tech. The sensor interference technology was replaced by a more advanced version that effectively hid its target from detection by all known sensor systems. The Type 1X Stealth Device, as it is officially known, is highly classified and cannot be engaged in the presence of other vessels.

The Reciprocity features advanced sensor and computer technology, most of which is still somewhat experimental, as well as ablative armor, deviating from the standard configuration of an escort and in line with its operational sphere.

Additionally to reduce the impact of any sort of systems-draining field effects, the Reciprocity has extensive manual backups on all major control systems; and rather than relying on the standard actuated doors uses manually sliding doors for most doorways. The two blast doors are operated on a hydraulic system, and have both automatic and manual controls. They are located at the entrance to Main Engineering and at the entrance to the main forward corridor from the Common Room.

USS Reciprocity's warp field emitters have been enhanced to increase cruise and maximum speeds. The ship’s 13 micro-quantum torpedoes and launcher are stored in an inaccessible space meaning that they may not be modified during flight without EVA.
