Personal History
Tarik and his family belong to the House of Telargh. Tarik’s father served on a Bird of Prey during the Dominion War and his mother remained on Qo’noS to raise him.
Because he was Klingon to the core Tarik’s father spent a lot of time in battle alongside members of Star Fleet and therefore he and the HoD of the Bird of Prey grew to respect the honorable warriors of the Federation.
Eventually when the Dominion War ended Tarik’s father was reassigned to work closely with Star Fleet as somewhat of a liaison officer (though he never left the KDF) between the two governments.
Tarik’s young and adolescent life was therefore rather complicated. Sometimes for months at a time Tarik would be surrounded by fellow Klingon children where he would immerse himself in the ways on his people. Other times Tarik would be the only Klingon, other than his parents, on an entire base or ship. During these times Tarik found it difficult to fit in though the more this happened the easier it became for Tarik to fit in among non-Klingons.
Thankfully Tarik’s parents never lost their passion for their people and they ensured their son was raised as a true Klingon. Being a member of the House of Telargh helped Tarik and when it was time for him to enter into the KDF he was accepted without issue.
Tarik, being a part of the house of Telargh, eventually found himself and his family in the center of the Klingon Civil War. Tarik fought ferociously for the honor of his family and house. Halfway through the civil war the commanding officers on the vessel Tarik served as tactical officer for were killed during battle. Tarik, being the ranking officer on the ship took command and destroyed the attacking ship.
Tarik retained command of the IKV Nerendra for the rest of the Civil War and after the death of the traitor Kalok and the rise of power for the house of Telargh Tarik was promoted to Major.
In an effort to strengthen relations between the new chancellor of the Klingon Empire and the Federation Tarik was assigned to the Federation as an exchange officer. Tarik accepted the rank of Commander, though some still call him ‘Major’, as it allows him to remain on a vessel within Star Fleet.
