A Fleet Commander (or "FC") is a military title usually given to an officer that commands a number of different units or vessels.
The Deputy Fleet Commander (or "DFC") is a title given to the officer working directly under the Fleet Commander. The DFC should have a general working knowledge of the Fleet and be able to step in at a moments' notice if needed.
The Deputy also attends meetings and briefings in the stead of the Fleet Commander at the Fleet Commander's discretion.
