Glintara Sector
The Glintara Sector, also known as Sector 31, or Sector 031, is a surveyed volume of space within the Milky Way’s Beta Quadrant. It measures approximately 20 light years by 20 light years by 20 light years; that is, 8,000 cubic light years. Glintara, a star within the sector, is the origin of the sector’s common name. It is the 31st sector explored by Humans originating from Earth.
Stars and star systems within the Glintara Sector include Belak and Glintara.
Circa Stardate 16400, the Borg explored, or raided, the Glintara Sector, destroying a number of Federation installations within it.
The Romulan Star Empire claims much of the sector’s contents, including Glintara, as its own. Indeed, the sector is of strategic importance because of its proximity to the Empire’s capital, whether Romulus or Eilhaunn. For example, circa Stardate 17400, Captain Benjamin Sisko, of Deep Space 9, strategized that combined Cardassian and Dominion forces could conquer the Romulan capital in about 24 hours, by attacking the Empire through the Glintara Sector.
