Mathen

Mathen is a star that hosts a planetary system that hosts the Mathenite civilization.

Star

Mathen is a single star within the Hermat Frontier Sector, and within the Milky Way’s Alpha Quadrant.

The star is approximately 77.8 light years from Sol (Earth). Its average apparent magnitude, as viewed from Earth, is 7.3, and its absolute visual magnitude is 5.4, making it only about 3/5ths as bright as Sol. It is a white subdwarf with a stellar classification of F6 and an average temperature of about 6,975 degrees Kelvin. (See also the Astronomical Terms Database.)

Planetary System

The Mathen star hosts an inhabited planetary system with no less than one planet. Mathen, a planet within the planetary system, and the Mathenite homeworld, is the origin of the star’s common name.

Circa Stardate 17100, the Mathenite government granted political asylum to Cardassian Legate Tekeny Ghemor when he fled the Cardassian Union because Corbin Entek, an intelligence operative of the Obsidian Order, exposed his role as leader of an underground dissident movement that opposed the High Command.
