Capella IV is an inhabited planet, located in the Alpha Quadrant. It is the homeworld to the Capellans, a pre-warp humanoid species.
Located close to the Federation-Klingon border, this strategic planet was often visited by members of both governments.
Rich with topaline, Capella IV served as a pawn during the Federation-Klingon Cold War in 2267.
Each government wanted the rights to mine the ore, which the Enterprise secured for the Federation in the end.
After Starfleet's first contact, Starfleet Medical sent a medical relief mission to the planet in 2265.
Doctor Leonard McCoy personally considered the mission a failure.
As of 2380, Capella IV had a population of about 160,000.
