The Xindi Aquatics are a non-humanoid race that has evolved to living underwater.
They are one of the six original species of Xindi, with whom they share a common genetic ancestry.
Considered to be complicated and enigmatic, the Aquatics are known to over-analyze, taking an excruciatingly long periods of time to come to decisions.
To their credit, the Aquatics' prudence was, at times, what kept the Xindi Council from breaking apart.
This Xindi species responds better to visual stimuli, and are extremely suspicious of the spoken word.
They are said to admire boldness and confidence, and treat hushed tones with suspicion.

Females of the Xindi-Aquatic species are larger than the males, and have rougher skin. Typically, males have skin that is smoother, and have a slime-like coating.
Additionally, females also have a more humanoid-looking face, where as male faces are rounder.
Both sexes of this species have slit-like irises in their eyes, and are capable of seeing far better underwater than humanoids.
They have three fingers on each forelimb, ending in short fingernail-like claws, with webbing in between for easier swimming.
They have tails for maneuverability, and hind limbs are fin-like. Skin has a greenish shade, with blotches of olive.
Like all Xindi, they have a fold at the top of their cheekbone.

However, certain rooms can be adapted for non-Aquatic use, so that the Aquatics can speak with beings that do not breathe water.
In addition, the Aquatics were the inventors of the biometric hologram, which was used to train Xindi surgeons. The Xindi Council chambers were also fit with biometric holograms,
as they were used to project viewscreens and images of Human physiology for use in the creation of a bioweapon.
History

In the 2140s, though initially reluctant, the Aquatics agreed to build a superweapon against Humans, the species that the Guardians said threatened their world. The weapon was built underwater on the Aquatics' main colony on Azati Prime.
In 2153, they agreed to launch a miniature prototype of the weapon, which killed seven million people on Earth. In response to this prototype of the weapon, Humans sent their flagship to find and stop the final weapon. When the ship entered their territory, the Aquatics voted for continued observation of the Humans, rather than immediate destruction. When the weapon was found, and the Humans made attempts to destroy it, they also tried to show the Xindi evidence that the Guardians were manipulating them.
Still not trusting of the Humans as a whole, the Aquatics were careful in their consideration of the evidence that was brought against the Guardians. After observing for themselves how the Sphere Network was damaging the space around them, and creating the many pitfalls that the Expanse became known for, the Aquatics agreed to help Archer and the Enterprise destroy the Sphere Network.
Ultimately, most of the Aquatics' fleet was defeated when the Sphere Builders triggered the spheres to create massive anomalies, which breached the hulls of the Aquatic ships, releasing water into space.
