Star
Pangar is a single star within the Pangar Gateway Sector, is the origin of the sector’s common name, and is within the Milky Way’s Beta Quadrant.
The star is approximately 141.6 light years from Sol (Earth). Its average apparent magnitude, as viewed from Earth, is 6.1, and its absolute visual magnitude is 2.9, making it about 6 times brighter than Sol. It is a white subgiant with a stellar classification of F5 and an average temperature of about 6,825 degrees Kelvin. (See also the Astronomical Terms Database.)
Planetary System
The Pangar star hosts an inhabited planetary system with no less than one planet. Pangar, a planet within the planetary system, and the Pangaran homeworld, is the origin of the star’s common name.
Circa Stardate 20508, Captain Brett Jacobs, and Commander Aitrus Colso, of the U.S.S. Philadelphia, FF-6053, spearheaded a joint military exercise involving Pangaran forces and a task force of four Federation starships, in hopes of strengthening diplomatic relations between the two governments. However, the war game, including both mock raids and invasion scenarios, soon escalated into real conflict when civil war erupted on Pangar, with dire consequences for the Star Fleet officers and crews.
