fs-sc-2 Lambda Sagittarii 21507.04

Kaus Borealis (Lambda Sagittarii) is a star that hosts a planetary system, including the planet Chalna.

Star

Kaus Borealis, also known as Lambda Sagittarii, is a single star within the Patriarchy Sector, and within the Milky Way’s Alpha Quadrant.

The star is approximately 78.2 light years from Sol (Earth). Its average apparent magnitude, as viewed from Earth, is 2.8, and its absolute visual magnitude is 0.9, making it about 37 times brighter than Sol. It is an orange subgiant with a stellar classification of K1 and an average temperature of about 3,925 degrees Kelvin. (See also the Astronomical Terms Database.)

Planetary System

The Kaus Borealis star hosts an inhabited planetary system with no less than five planets. Chalna, the fifth planet within the planetary system, is the Chalnoth homeworld.

Captain Jean-Luc Picard, of the U.S.S. Stargazer, NCC-2893, visited Chalna, circa Stardate 15400.
