Star System

Inferna, also known as Zeta Herculis, is a star system within the Milky Way’s Alpha Quadrant.

The star system is approximately 35.0 light years from Sol (Earth). Its average apparent magnitude, as viewed from Earth, is 2.8, and its absolute visual magnitude is 2.6, making it about 7 times brighter than Sol. The system’s primary star is a yellow subgiant with a stellar classification of G0 and an average temperature of about 5,240 degrees Kelvin, but its inhabited primary star, actually the system’s secondary star, is a white subgiant with a stellar classification of F6 and an average temperature of about 6,975 degrees Kelvin. The stellar classification of its tertiary star is K; and quaternary, F. (See also the Astronomical Terms Database.)

Planetary System

The Inferna star system hosts an inhabited planetary system with no less than two planets. Inferna Prime, a planet within the planetary system, is the origin of the star system’s common name. Its inhabitants are members of the United Federation of Planets.

A grand jury of the United Federation of Planets convened on Inferna Prime, circa Stardate 17300, to investigate alleged criminal activity of the Orion Syndicate, as testified to by witnesses, including the Ferengi barkeep, Quark, of Deep Space 9.
