|History= When he was a child Zhodaar wanted to be a Captain like his father, he thought it would be easy with his size and strength he could easily take what he wanted when he wanted. Despite his strength and skill, he never developed the type of leadership qualities necessary for command. Not satisfied with the idea that he wasn’t good enough he trained harder becoming even more physically dominant and yet it still wasn’t enough for the Confederation Defense Force (CDF). They saw him and his effort to be more in line with the Saurischia. Lost, Zhodaar turned to his father for guidance only to be told that he the CDF obviously saw him for what he was a dull-witted grunt, more suited to charging into combat than leading troops.

Born to a pair of botanists, Asfar had a conventional upbringing travelling around the Federation, visiting many different planets with his parents during the course of their work. He was however, a bit of a loner during this time, not really having time to meet up with and make friends of his own age with all the moving about.

Dejected and hurt by the prospect of never being anything more than a grunt Zhodaar left the Gorn Confederation after being rejected from the command tract and emigrated to Sauria and got a job at a restaurant. It was there that he met Lazel and his love of food. With Lazel he learned to appreciate all the unique flavors and textures Saurian cuisine had to offer. Zhodaar knew that if he could stay on Sauria and could become a chef himself eventually. However, Zhodaar had a yearning for more, a yearning to discover new dishes and new flavors, and boldly explore the universe adding to his personal recipe book for a day that he might open his own restaurant.

With urging of Lazel Zhodaar found himself applying to Starfleet academy and being surprised to be accepted. While he studied his classes to the best of his abilities, he also studied the different styles of cuisine from Earth. And yet, despite his best efforts not to, he still found himself trying to earn the opportunity to take command only to be remined that he isn’t as intelligent as the other cadets. He almost didn’t qualify to take the final exam and was approached several times during his final year by Starfleet recruiters encouraging Zhodaar to accept a guarantied enlistment in Security instead of risking flunking out of the Academy. Yet somehow, he was just barely able to qualify to take the final exam and pass graduating in the lower half of his graduating class.

It was while travelling between postings that the young Asfar was introduced to engineering by necessity. The vessel his family were travelling on had stopped off briefly to observe a stellar eruption when the ship, an old [[23rd Century]] transport, lost primary power. Due to a modification of the EPS layout, the engineering staff couldn't reach the affected section because the location was too restrictive.

Asfar managed to convince his parents and the Captain that he could squeeze into the area and make the repair for them. It was successful. For the rest of the journey, and subsequent trips, he began spending time with the engineers learning what he could until the day he was old enough to attend the Academy.

It wasn't until it was suggested that there may be an opening aboard the newly commissioned [[USS Nikola Tesla, LE-20004|USS Nikola Tesla]] that he even considered the possibility of moving on in his career having become rather too comfortable where he was.

The next deployment was a rescue mission. A medical frigate, the [[USS Nightingale, HOS-60805|USS Nightingale]] had crossed into the [[Federation/Romulan Neutral Zone|Romulan Neutral Zone]]. Whether by accident or design, this was initially unknown, resulting in the medical vessel being disabled by a [[Romulan]] vessel. The ''Tesla'' was deployed to give assistance and recover the Nightingale. Upon arrival, it was clear that the Nightingale had sustained massive damage, and a large number of her crew had been injured or killed in the action. Asfar and the ''Tesla's'' engineers managed to get the vessel operational along with the remaining ''Nightingale'' staff. There was however a [[Romulan]] infiltrator aboard the vessel, who it was later discovered, was responsible for the ship’s near destruction. Both ships were able to return to star base, but the infiltrator escaped with whatever information they had acquired in the process.

His [[Chief Engineer]] had resigned, and the man who he had been training on their last mission aboard the ''Tesla'' had been assigned as his superior officer as CE. The vessel was quickly dispatched on a deep range mission requiring the engines to run at high warp for several weeks to ensure that they would reach their destination before a rival [[Klingon]] vessel did so.

Meanwhile, the ship fired on the location of the entity. Thankfully, the vessel completed its mission despite all adversaries.
