Personal History

Jenny was born a quiet child on Starbase Alpha to a woman who did not want her. She soon found herself sent to live with her father on the USS Philadelphia, and was raised by him and several of his friends until he transferred to the USS Enterprise. On the Enterprise, Jenny's father married her adoptive mother and for a while the three lived happily, and Jenny was soon joined by a little brother.

The Braggins Family. From left to right: Mackenzie, Jenny, Paul

The family moved to the Ticonderoga, and for a time things were happy, until her parents seperated after an argument Jenny was too young to understand. Jenny went with her adoptive mother and brother first to Risa, then back to the family homeworld of Dhar'hyyk. It was here that she and her family were kidnapped by followers of her late-grandfather and forced into slavery, eventually ending up in a Dilithium Mine. She spent five years in captivity, during which her mother and brother both succumbed to the brutal work, and she organised her escape with the aid of a sympathetic Freighter Captain. Once free, she made her way to Dhar'hyyk where she was informed of her father's death and the dire situation the Galaxy was in. She was raised by several of her father's friends and allies, and on her sixteenth birthday, followed her father's footsteps and joined the Dhar'hyyk Air Force, hampered by the same dislike of mathematics that had almost scuppered her father's graduation.

Jenny was rushed through the Military Academy due to the rising tensions in the sector, and was posted to a reconnaissance unit – officially a non-combatant role. She soon attracted the eyes of Dhar’hyyk Special Intelligence Services, who decided to put her skills to better use. During her tenure with Intelligence; she spent time in Federation, Klingon and Romulan territory; and came to consider herself quite the intrepid explorer while conducting armed reconnaissance and surgical strike missions behind enemy lines.

When the Second General War reached Dhar'hyyk, Jenny found herself on the front lines commanding a multi-purpose unit dubbed ‘The Wolf Pack’; and was among the forces that pushed the Romulans and Klingons out of the system.

Shortly after that battle, Jenny was ambushed by Cardassians and her fighter damaged. An instability in the Warp Engines; caused by the damage catapulted her eleven years into the past; where she eventually found her way to her father's Cruiser - the Ticonderoga. With her fighter all but destroyed, there was no way discover how to send her home, so she remained on the ship, surrounded by the younger faces of those who had raised her.

Jenny served on the Ticonderoga with the ship's Fighter Squadron, before moving on to become Wing Commander when her father's Light Carrier Group idea came to fruition. When the project was cancelled, she transferred with him to his new project; the 666th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing as a Squadron Leader. This assignment did not last long, however, as she wished to get out and see the Galaxy from a more peaceful perspective – a move her father initially disagreed with, but later relented on and assisted her in making a choice. Knowing most of the crew were also displaced, Jenny figured she should join like-minded individuals to explore this new existence with, choosing the USS Avenger as her next posting.

Jenny’s first mission aboard the Avenger actually took place aboard the USS James Madison which was dispatched under command of Commander Crawford to the planet Halless 1; to recover a Probe that had mysteriously disappeared. Upon entering orbit around Halless, the James Madison lost all power and plummeted from space. Jenny managed to slow the descent somewhat, but the ship crashed and was all-but destroyed with several fatalities. Despite several ‘hiccoughs’ on the mission, including but not limited to Crawford being taken by a flying creature and a failed train hijacking, Jenny herself destroyed the rogue Probe with a pair of Grenades, and piloted the Avenger out of the system following the crew’s rescue.

The Avenger; damaged by Tholian weapons fire during Jenny’s adventures on Halless, made a layover in an Asteroid Field to conduct repairs. It was during this time that Jenny first met then-Midshipman Jake Schwartz whom she considered a brash, arrogant Engineer. The two did not get off to the best start, though Jenny was not to know that in the near future she would save his skin time after time.

The crew did not get much time to rest, as the Avenger soon found itself en-route to Tellar to join the fleet amassing to push the Krynar out of the system. During the battle, Jenny remained at the Helm of the Avenger – flying the Battlecruiser on manual the entire time. When the crew was affected by ‘Enlightenment Orbs’, Jenny felt she was the sole survivor aboard the ship and overrode the Tactical Controls – firing a full volley of twelve Quantum Torpedoes at a Krynar Dreadnought, which disappeared before the results of the volley could be seen. Though she relinquished Tactical Control back to the Avenger’s Chief Tactical Officer following the destruction of the Orbs, Jenny found herself wishing she could fly and fight by herself again – she was missing her Fighter Squadron.

Following the battle, her true position as a member of Special Operations Command revealed, Jenny wished to return to one of her father’s squadrons to fill the vacancies caused by casualties in the battle. To her surprise and anger, her father refused and revoked her operational status within Special Operations. The two had a falling out, and after some soul-searching and a conversation with now-Captain Crawford; Jenny decided to remain aboard the Avenger for the time-being.

The next mission saw the Avenger dispatched with a task force to the Krynar home system. Though the mission was a success, Jenny found herself physically and mentally drained from the combat experience and began to doubt her competency and ability to pilot the Avenger in such a way that wouldn’t see her make a mistake that got the rest of the crew killed. To make matters worse, the genocide of the Krynar had left a sour taste in her mouth – bringing uncomfortable memories from her past to the front of her mind. No longer able to stomach the senseless violence, or work with her Department Head; with whom she had been disagreeing more and more, she requested a transfer to the Test Pilot Corps; which was approved without the knowledge of Captain Crawford, who simply thought Jenny was running away, especially considering she had not informed any other members of the crew.

Jenny’s first assignment as a Test Pilot was testing the Avenger’s replacement support ship; an Escort with no name; just the designator ‘ESX-17184’. The ship was a wreck when she first saw it, but Crawford had assigned two other Avenger crewmates to the project to assist her – Jake and the new Tactical Officer, Acenvar Crystillin. It was during the refit process that Jenny confessed to the pair she had transferred away, eliciting an angry response from Jake. Jenny fled the confrontation before it truly began, but was followed by Jake and after a short discussion the two shared their first kiss. Though neither party truly understood what was going on between them, they agreed to discuss it following the test flight.

The test flight was a disaster. Jenny decided to overrule Jake’s suggestion of following the rulebook and stopping to thoroughly check the systems before engaging in a warp test, the result of which saw a near-insignificant flaw in a single circuit-board cause a deviation in the Escort’s flight plan – causing it to enter Klingon space. Though Jenny managed to pilot the Escort back out of Klingon space before it could be identified as a Federation vessel, the ship was severely damaged and Jenny wounded in the arm and chest before it was rescued by her father’s ship, the Anarchy. Though her father was not aboard, the senior officer aboard decided that the incident officially had not happened – the Escort’s computer core was completely wiped, and the ship repaired by Special Operations engineers before being delivered back to Starbase Delta.

Given time off to recuperate; Jenny developed an unlikely friendship with Zephyr Praise, whom she had nearly shot during her breakdown on the Avenger’s Bridge. The two went shopping in an attempt to bond, and Zephyr tried to get Jenny to open up and come out of the shell she had created – to be a young woman for once rather than just a Starfleet Officer. The attempt was successful to a point, until new orders came through from Starfleet Command – Jenny had been assigned as Acting Chief Tactical Officer on the Avenger. Though she desperately wanted to turn the position down, she eventually relented and accepted – realising that it was only one more mission, and would allow her to at least make up for attempting to run away without saying goodbye the first time she had attempted to transfer.

Friends: Jake Schwartz and Acenvar Crystillin are probably the closest people Jenny has to friends.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: The time in the mines, finding out that her family had died, being ripped from her own timeline.
Best Time: Her escape, and being reunited with her father after the Temporal Incident that catapulted her back in time.
Most Crucial Experience: Joining the Dhar'hyyk Air Force following her escape – it was a move she knew her father would have hated, but ultimately she knew it would help her understand him more.
Role Model: Jenny doesn't really have a role model.
