The planet of Betazed is home to the telepathic Betazoid species, located in the Beta Zeta system of the Alpha Quadrant.
Consistently described as a lush, beautiful world, the planet's climate varies from dense jungles to wide canyons and cliffs. Many of the major continents are dotted with lakes.

Basic Information
Betazed is the fifth planet in the Beta Zeta system.
The aboriginal name of Betazed is Cyndriel, and has a single moon, Lonita.
It is governed by the Fifth House of Betazed, centered in the capital city of Rixx.
This planet joined the United Federation of Planets in 2273, and had achieved warp capabilities long before that date.
The primary star in the Beta Zeta system is G-Class, and the planet is Class M.
Weather is typically calm and pleasant, bordering on tropical. However, when the atmospheric conditions shift, they do so with startling speed. Atmospherically, Betazed has a blue sky with pink clouds.
As of 2370, the population is 1.3 billion.
History
- In an early extraterrestrial observation, Betazed was surveyed by the Vulcan starship Yeht Fai-Tukh, commissioned in 2053.
- In 2139, the ship Avandar was the first Betazoid starship to successfully break the light-speed barrier.
Its crew went on to make first contact with its neighbors, who called themselves the Terabians. Unfortunately, the Terabians were not open to being friends.
- Betazoids explored their home sector and maintained relations with several neighboring worlds.
Despite this, they had no knowledge of Humans or Vulcans in the years leading up to the founding of the Federation in 2161.
- In 2366, Betazed held a conference for the Federation's biennial trade agreements.
- In 2374, the Dominion invaded Betazed, while Starfleet's 10th Fleet -tasked to protect the planet- was on a training run.
The Dominion used Betazoid slave labor to construct Sentok Nor in orbit of Betazed. This base was used as a Jem'Hadar breeding facility during the Dominion occupation.
