Personal History

Vox was born on Earth to Kyle and T’Lora Templar. His father was a career-minded Star Fleet officer who served with distinction. His mother was a Romulan dissident that fled the Romulan Empire. T’Lora was aboard a hired civilian freighter that was ferrying many Romulan dissidents to a colony on Fraxis VII. The ship passed through a particularly severe ion storm in the Pavantis Sector, sustaining massive damage to critical systems, including the warp coolant containment system. The U.S.S. Ajax, on patrol in the region, received the distress call of the freighter and responded to assist. Kyle Templar, then a raw ensign aboard the Ajax, assisted in the evacuation of the damaged vessel. While moving people to a secure beam-out position, a plasma conduit ruptured in a hallway, trapping three people, including T’Lora. Kyle Templar risked his own life to help the trapped individuals escape to safety. T’Lora was struck by the bravery that Kyle exhibited. By the time the U.S.S. Ajax arrived at Fraxis VII, T’Lora decided to remain aboard. She was granted political asylum by the Federation, and over time, Kyle and T’Lora fell in love and were married.

About a year later, Kyle and T’Lora gave birth to Vox while visiting Kyle’s family on Earth. Kyle, not wanting his son to have a limited childhood aboard a starship, and worried about the dangers of the First General War, convinced T’Lora to remain on Earth to raise Vox. Growing up, Vox was always fascinated by the missions his father would tell him about traveling the stars, encountering other species and dangerous situations. Vox developed a growing desire to join Star Fleet from an early age. After the First General War, Kyle let Vox travel on various assignments when time permitted. While on excursions Kyle taught Vox how to play the old Earth trumpet. Yet, despite being raised on Earth, Vox found an appreciation for his Romulan heritage, and took pride in his mixed blood, with the wish that one day he would see Romulus for himself. At the age of 14, disaster struck when his father Kyle Templar was killed while serving aboard the U.S.S. Avenger when the Borg invaded. Since that time, he devoted himself to becoming the best man that he could be to honor his father.

Joining Star Fleet Academy was a monumental achievement for Vox. He found himself particularly drawn towards learning about criminal investigations and security systems. A coy flirt at times, he was said to speak certain Romulan phrases, "all in the name of sharing linguistic knowledge." One of the most interesting classes for him was Starship Tactics, in which he minored, with a specialty in Romulan battle strategy.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Security
Academy Minor(s): Starship Tactics, Advanced Close Quarters Combat
Hobbies and Pastimes: Enjoys good adventure books, Tai Chi to clear the mind, holo-simulations of early 20th century Earth.
Short-Term Goals: Earn the rank of lieutenant
Long-Term Goals: Starship command
Personality: Vox has a way of smiling that doesn't reveal much about his thoughts, which helps since he likes to be flirtatious in the right setting. Very loyal to his friends and comrades, yet somewhat reserved around strangers. He has a calm demeanor and is a good listener. He prefers to be in small groups rather than large crowds, which he finds distracting and less meaningful.
Sense of Humor: Enjoys all types, but leans most towards sarcastic and witty humor
Phobias: None discovered at this time.
Likes: Listening to old Earth "ragtime" jazz, sometimes playing along on the trumpet. Also doesn't say no to a chilled glass of Romulan ale.
Dislikes: Liars and people who betray trust.
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Loud, boasting individuals and people who complain about their duty.
Achievements: Played in a popular local jazz band, Half Impulse.
Disappointments: Failed first entrance exam to Star Fleet Academy.
Illnesses: None of note.
Strengths: In addition to speaking Federation Standard (English), also speaks fluent Rihan, the Romulan language. Accomplishes what he sets his mind on doing, is a great team player, loyal to his comrades and friends and tries to be polite.
Weaknesses: Sometimes to avoid delving too deep into troubling thoughts, he will seek out extra work rather than discuss or face it. Tends to be suspicious of people he doesn't know, is known to harbor a small "chip on his shoulder" about his own opinions. Occasionally drinks a few too many.
Fears: Being responsible for the death of someone due to inaction or the wrong decision.
Prejudices: He views the Vulcan suppression of emotion as flawed, and is slightly uncomfortable around telepaths.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: T-shirt and Jeans
Distinguishing Features: Pointed ears, a sharp nose
Pets: None
Friends: Enjoys the friendship of several close individuals
