Rubicun III
Rubicun III is an inhabited, Class M planet, located in a star cluster in the Beta Quadrant.
Home to the Edo, a pre-warp civilization, this planet is distinct is that it is also allied with the Federation. In 2364, the USS Enterprise visited this planet in order to asses its viability for future colonies.
It is unknown why Captain Picard sent an away team down to the pre-warp civilization, in opposition to the Prime Directive.
In orbit of this planet is the "Edo god", a collection of trans-dimensional beings who watch over the Edo, as well as their star cluster. This star cluster includes the Rubicun star system and the Strnad solar system, the latter of which temporarily had a Federation colony. In total, the protected star cluster houses approximately 3,006 planets, which the Federation had thought were suitable for colonization. However, due to an agreement with the trans-dimensional beings, the Federation has removed the colony from the Strnad system, and has not established any more colonies since.
