The Edo are a humanoid species, and most closely resemble Humans of a Caucasian descent. Most Edo have blonde hair, though brown hair seems to be a recessive trait.

Culture

Edo live an almost hedonistic lifestyle, spending most of their time enjoying music, dancing, massages, group games, or sexual relations.

Clothing is plain and limited, with Edo of both identifying genders wearing white, skimpy clothing that shows much skin. Adornments are limited to Edo leaders and mediators (law enforcers), with those individuals wearing necklaces showcasing the symbol of the Edo people. Mediators are the only people to dress differently, easily identifiable in grey and black garb.

The Edo people have an alliance with the Federation, though they are not a member.

Customs

Described most as a free-spirited people, the Edo are welcoming and friendly towards outsiders, and as a whole, and open with their sexuality, as well. A typical greeting from one Edo to another involves a friendly, intimate embrace, whether the two are friends or strangers.

Is it typical for Edo to trot or run from place to place, rather than walking.

As a whole, Edo are very focused on their health, and consider their bodies to be as reverent as the god they pray to.

Criminality

While a peaceful and extremely law-abiding society, breaking any Edo laws comes at a high price. No Edo breaks any of their own laws, and if they do, the happenstance is rare. The penalty for breaking Edo laws is immediate execution by way of injection.

On their planet, there are "punishment zones" that are subject to frequent changes, and without warning. Punishment zones are marked with species fences, and even temporarily or mistakenly trespassing in these zones constitutes Edo punishment.

Religion

The Edo people are protected by a being they call "God"; a trans-dimensional entity that remains in orbit of their planet.

When the USS Enterprise transported the current Edo leader onto their ship in 2364, she became the first Edo to see their planet from space. The Edo god, however, was not pleased that one if its people was removed from the planet. It verbally commanded the ship to "return its child", and began moving closer at a slow, but steady pace.

When Commander Data hailed the shadow sensor that was the Edo god, it released a small, transparent, sphere that came aboard the ship and enveloped Data, communicating with him in a unique, indescribable way. The shimmering sphere also speaks with Captain Picard, though verbally, and tells him "not to interfere with [its] children below."

During communication with Data, it is revealed the the Edo god is not one being, but many, and they are aware that the Edo worship them as part of their religion. It appears to the android that these beings intend to watch over the Edo as their people continue to grow and evolve, and have been doing so for quite some time. The entities that watch over the Edo are trans-dimensional, and are able to exist in several places at once. The beings consider the entire local star cluster to be their territory, and the Edo under their protection.

The Edo god entities are able to block starship communications and transporters.
