Rachel Garrett
Rachel Garrett was a Star Fleet officer serving in the early 24th century. In 2344, Garrett was captain of the starship USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-C. In that year, the Enterprise responded to a distress call from the Klingon outpost on Narendra III, which was under attack by Romulan forces. Captain Garrett was presumed killed during the attack, along with most of her crew.
During the battle, the Enterprise-C was actually brought forward in time to 2366 by the accidental formation of a temporal rift. Suffering from severe internal injuries, Garrett was beamed aboard the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-D, who had responded to its predecessor's distress call. Once recovered, Garrett was prepared to remain in that timeframe, to assist the Federation in their ongoing war with the Klingon Empire. However, the alternate timeline version of Captain Jean-Luc Picard was able to convince her to take the Enterprise back to the battle to restore the correct timeline. If a Federation starship were to sacrifice itself in defense of Klingons, Picard theorized, such an act would be seen as extremely honorable by the Empire, and could perhaps avoid the horrific war altogether.
However, before her vessel could return, Captain Garrett was killed when a Klingon photon torpedo deployed by a Klingon Bird-of-Prey hit the bridge, sending a piece of shrapnel into her head.
