Personal History

Skeeve Koll was born under a new moon, which in his home town meant he was destined for great things. This usually meant that he’d be a leader of the town, or perhaps become a manager in a local business.

Skeeve spent his childhood looking at the sky, wanting adventure. He found it when he was 15 and a visiting Starfleet engineer came to talk to his school. He was immediately enraptured by the speech, and signed up for Starfleet the next month.

The officer who visited his school noted his skill with subspace fields, and told him that he thought he had a place in Starfleet. He offered to sponsor Skeeve, and Skeeve scheduled his exam.

He went to the local testing center and took his first test, scoring a mere 3 points below the threshold. Koll went home and was depressed for weeks, but took the test again six months later. This time he scored 12 points below the threshold.

Even more disheartened, he didn’t even apply again for ten years. He spent that time working in a local hovercar factory where he learned a lot of useful skills. After two years he was bored and still wanted adventure. An Orion trading vessel had visited the factory and he talked to them about joining their company—which he later found was more of a gang—and nearly did so, but his mother talked him into applying to Starfleet again.

He waited another 8 years, instead taking classes at the Andorian Engineering Academy. Eventually he achieved his PhD in Subspace Physics. After this, he decided he was ready, and he took the exam again.

This time Skeeve passed it by 13 points. He reported to the academy 80 days later.

Skeeve’s time at the academy has been good. He’s made great friends with Roger Peters, his roommate, and he’s focused on his studies. It’s taken him a bit longer than he had hoped to get to this point, but he’s happy to be graduating and starting his career.
