Personal History
Jennie spent the majority of her childhood getting into trouble. Her inquisitive nature always had her exploring places she shouldn't be in, especially if she was told she couldn't go there. This inquisitive nature often led her to get in trouble, but it never deterred her for long. She loved to go exploring junk piles, finding bits of tech and putting the pieces together in new and strange ways. This inquisitive nature got her in trouble when she turned 18, when she was found pulling apart a panel in a shuttle, not realizing it was owned by a visiting Starfleet officer looking for a part in the junkyard. When she put it back together without being told how, the officer, Lieutenant Commander Damien Amano of the U.S.S. Franklin (GEC-9003) took her to a Starfleet testing facility, where she was given the chance to learn about what she could do in Starfleet. Being the ever adventurous one, she agreed.
At the Academy, she stood out for her willingness to stand up to anyone, even drill instructors. It got her into lots of trouble, but she never backed down. She was often found in the labs, tearing apart things to see how they worked and putting them back together. One night, while walking back to her dorm, she saw a pair of Andorians being harassed by five humans. She was just in time to see the first punch hit an Andorian, and then the fight was on. It took two burly security officers to pull her off the biggest human, his face a mess of bruises. She'd spent the night in a holding cell, nursing a black eye and broken tooth, but never regretted it. After getting statements from everyone, she was cleared, but told to try not to beat the hell out of any more cadets.
Her first assignment out of the Academy was a training cruise aboard the U.S.S.Confederation (CV-04) as a junior flight mechanic. She was very hands on, and her small frame let her crawl into the fighters easily to maintain them. After her midshipman cruise, she was promoted to Ensign, and assigned under Lieutenant T'Sai as a flight deck technician. When the war broke out, she was given a jump and promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade, and transferred to the U.S.S. Exeter (CA-1001) as a junior engineer under Lieutenant Commander Tholev th'Anex. There she met her best friend Merissa Alegre, a quartermaster in her section. She stayed on the Exeter even through her promotion up to Lieutenant, and was set to stay aboard when a Shard patrol happened across them. The Shard patrol was destroyed, but the Exeter was severely damaged, and would take too long to tie up so many valuable personnel. When an engineering slot came open aboard the U.S.S. Yeager (FSC-28018), she was assigned there, to serve under Lieutenant Trever Cole.
Personality Profile
Academy Major(s): Engineering Design and Mechanics
Academy Minor(s): Security (Self Defense), Medical (Combat Medicine)
Hobbies and Pastimes: When not tearing into broken electronics and gadgets, she is often found in the gym, working out and fighting. That or drinking. She's not an alcoholic, she just enjoys fine alcohol.
Short-Term Goals: Find out what Captain Kirk's favorite liquor was, and get a bottle of it to try.
Long-Term Goals: Take over the galaxy! Or maybe just find a planet full of junk and just live there forever.
Personality: Hyper and full of energy, the only time Jennie is ever completely still is when she's asleep. She always has to move, always do, always act. She is warm and friendly to almost everyone, though she will stand up to anyone who tries to push other people around.
Sense of Humor: Jennie loves jokes. She loves to laugh and be happy and doesn't mind making herself the butt of the joke if it makes someone laugh.
Phobias: Ichthyophobia (Fear of dead fish)
Likes: Alcohol, Working out
Dislikes: Abusive people, dull people.
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Being constantly told NOT to do something. That will probably encourage her to do something anyway just to be contrary.
Bad Habits or Vices: Bites her lip, tends to jump into problems before thinking about them first.
Achievements: Drank a Klingon under the table! Oh and uh, graduated the Academy and all that.
Disappointments: Had to be transferred off the U.S.S. Exeter (CA-1001) due to extensive battle damage and having to leave her friend Merissa.
Illnesses: Hangovers are an illness, right? If so, in her case, it can sometimes be chronic.
Strengths: Eager and ready to get hands on with anything presented to her, an almost innate aptitude with mechanics and electronics.
Weaknesses: Sometimes leaps without thinking, has a bit of an issue with overbearing authority.
Fears: Growing old and boring and not fun at all. That or all the rum is gone.
Prejudices: Doesn't trust anyone without at least one funny story about themselves. Anyone who is too serious to not have a joke about themselves isn't a good person.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Varies, but often is a simple tanktop and jeans, to party dresses. Most tops let her show off her tattoos.
Distinguishing Features: Numerous tattoos along her shoulders and back.
Friends: Merissa Alegre, met while aboard the U.S.S. Exeter (CA-1001). Works as an operations support officer, mostly as a quartermaster. Likes to joke and laugh, and also is a mean drunk when real alcohol gets involved. Tried to date Jennie but that fell through, but remained a good enough friend to overcome that issue. Merissa currently serves aboard the U.S.S. Sam Houston (DD-4032).
Personal Paradigm Shifts
Most Painful Experience: When Jennie was 15, she went to a party with several friends. During the party, it became known Jennie liked to scavenge, and one of the testosterone fueled males claimed he knew an abandoned vehicle with a dead body inside, and claimed Jennie was too scared to go. Of course she accepted, she and most of the others. This impromptu expedition set off, heading for this abandoned vehicle.
Along the way, Jennie and another girl, Eladi McRaven, slipped and fell into a water bypass. The river was flooding, and the two girls were swept downstream. Jennie was a better swimmer, and saw Eladi was having trouble making it to shore. The water was freezing cold, and Jennie tried to swim out and help Eladi, but her muscles were growing numb. Unable to hold out anymore, she swam to shore, collapsing on the ground and shaking due to hypothermia.
Jennie spent two days in the hospital getting patched up. Eladi was found later, and was taken straight to the morgue. Jennie still feels haunted by her failure to rescue Eladi, and doesn't like to talk about the incident.
Best Time: When Jennie graduated from Starfleet Academy, there was a party hosted by the Academy. The party was a blast, but the real party started after that, with the majority of cadets heading out into San Francisco to party and have a good time before they had to report to their assignments. Winding up at a small restaurant at 0300, Jennie and two other cadets, Carter Dewitt and William Nesheim, got to talking to Augustus Buccheri, owner and retired Starfleet Lieutenant. The restaurant closed around 0400, but Augustus invited them to stay late, cooking breakfast and sharing stories. While most other cadets were getting drunk and hungover, the three cadets swapped stories and good food until dawn.
Most Crucial Experience: As a present for her Academy graduation, Jennie was given a bottle of Mataran whiskey. She kept it with her throughout her career, saving it for a special occasion. During the battle with the Shards aboard the Exeter, the engineering team performed a Herculean task trying to keep the ship together while it was being sliced to pieces. While the ship was ultimately too damaged to make it home under her own power, the ship survived due to the engineering team. To celebrate coming home alive, the bottle of Mataran whiskey was shared with the surviving crew, everyone getting a taste. It was a mostly somber party, but it was also the last drink Jennie got to share with her crewmates. It was also a reminder that while there were happy times and sad times, there was still room to enjoy the finer things with those still alive.
Role Model: Dia Malik, Explorer, born February 21, 2355, died December 11, 2401. Most famous for exploring the Floating City of Kede and charting the Metallic Ocean of Izar VII. She was a bit eccentric, preferring to explore based on intuition instead of methodical charting. As a result, she was one of the most prolific explorers of the late 24th century.
