Asia is the largest continent on Earth, making up a majority of the "Eur-asian" landmass.


The Earth's largest and statistically most populous continent, it covers an area of 44,579,000 square kilometers (17,212,000 sq mi), about 30% of Earth's total land area. The continent, was the site of many of the first civilizations. Its population regularly made up roughly 60% of the entire world's population. It is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on the east, the Indian Ocean on the south, and the Artic Ocean on the north. The border between Asia and Europe has historically been a cultural border, as there is no clear physical or geographical separation between them.


China and India alternated in being Earth's largest economies from 1 to 1800 CE. It has a mix of many different climates, ranging from the hot desert in the "Middle East," temperate areas in the east, and the continental center to vast subarctic and polar areas in Siberia.


Notable animals in this area include the tiger, elephant, panda, rhinoceros, leopard and many species of primate.

  • In 1968, a government coup took place in Asia.
    • Spock remarked that this was "dangerous" for Earth's political development.


  • From 1992 to 1996, Khan Noonien Singh was absolute ruler of more than a quarter of Earth's land mass
