Personal History
Misty along with her brothers were born on Deneva, a planet long considered one of the most beautiful in the galaxy.
The Wood family has been on Deneva nearly from its founding in the 22nd century. The family had also experienced deaths and injuries suffered during the ‘Space Plague’, from neural parasites that infested the planet in 2267.
Misty was a curious kid and took an early interest in biology and the ‘why of things’. As a Freshman in High School, Misty met Margo Branding who would become a life-long friend. Their interest in biology increased to xenobiology, especially in non-humanoid lifeforms.
At age 16, Misty and Margo got lost during a bog canoe trip for three days. Keeping their wits, they survived the ordeal and frightened off a very dangerous Denevan bog rat (in actuality, a large canine-sized omnivorous marsupial).
At age 17, Misty wrote a well received school science paper on collective/hive intelligence (based primarily on the parasite invasion, and what little unclassified info existed on the Borg).
At age 18, was seduced (figuratively speaking) with a Star Fleet recruiter just before school graduation. Exposure to the finest science equipment and scientists in the galaxy proved irresistible. Was accepted to Star Fleet Academy.
At age 22, a month before her 23nd birthday, graduated Star Fleet Academy with honors, posted to the Light Cruiser, USS Titan as Science Officer, Rank Midshipman.
At age 23, was involved with a Security Officer, Midshipman Michael Trout. On Star date 20410.18, the Titan was involved in an extraction mission which required the sacrifice of half the ship’s personnel. Misty was one of the survivors; Michael wasn’t.
At age 24, reassigned to the Destroyer, USS Sheridan as an Ensign. The ship encountered (and survived) several powerful entities, which piqued Misty’s curiosity big time. She was also a junior team member to help with simulations regarding an anti-matter bomb that was planned to detonate in a black hole. Misty was grateful that no serious breach to the Space-Time continuum had occurred. There were rumors that an entire ‘daughter’ universe may have been horribly affected...perhaps even destroyed.
At age 26, promoted to Lt JG. Got involved with a Vulcan, but after three months, Misty couldn’t stand the lack of emotion and ended the relationship.
At age 28, achieved rank of Lieutenant and was transferred to the Light Cruiser, USS Drake. There she met her husband to be, Lt. George Ramses, Engineer.
At age 29, she and George were married in the Banquet hall on Deck 10 by the ship’s chaplain. It was one of the happiest days of her life. Shortly after their marriage, the mission to Kessick Four caused the worst day of her life, the loss of her husband in a battle between the Drake and the Klingon Bird of Prey, Gralark (see Most Painful Experience).
At age 30, was temporally assigned to Star Base Alpha’s Science Department, and then transferred to Star Base Charlie’s Science Department, pending reassignment..
At age 31, achieved rank of Lt. Cdr, assigned to Galactic Survey Vessel, USS Copernicus as Chief Science Officer
Personality Profile
Academy Major(s): Science: xeno-biology (flora and fauna)
Academy Minor(s): Science- microbiology, Engineering- sensor technology (focus on biological detection)

Sense of Humor: Has one; makes on occasion witty remarks (at least to her mind); prefers non-mean spirited humor, though she does like occasional crude humor
Phobias: Nothing of note
Likes: Sunrises/sets, rainy days, hiking, cherry pie, the occasional glass of chilled white wine, light perfume, deep lavender roses, reading, flute and drum music

Distinguishing Features: Her nose is perhaps a little longer than ideal for her face
Pets: Denevan Red-Winged Raven (more of a parrot-like bird than a terran raven, smart and very longed lived, current age: 60-ish years)
Friends: Margo Branding, High School friend that shared similar interests in life, the universe and everything (including boys). Margo is married and living on Deneva
Personal Paradigm Shifts
Most Painful Experience: Losing her husband CEO Lt. George Ramses (see Personal History Age 29). What had become known later as the “Kessick Quandry”, the Drake was involved in starship combat with the Klingon Bird of Prey, Gralark; Misty had paid George a quick visit while the Science computer was crunching some of Kessick’s planetary data, minutes before the Gralark had decloaked; the pair were located in a small monitoring alcove of the Defensive/Offensive control area.
When the Klingon boarding party materialized in Engineering, Ramses kept to his post as a melee erupted between the boarders and the Drake’s personnel; keeping track of shields and weapons operating status. Before long Ramses was compelled to engage a much larger Klingon warrior...the Klingon sliced George with his d’k tahg, but before the killing blow, Misty jumped on the Klingon and the Klingon brushed her off all too easily, slamming her into a bulkhead knocking the wind out of her.
Ramses seeing his wife in danger lunged at the Klingon himself, knocking both to the ground...unfortunately, the Klingon’s blade hit its mark, but before the Klingon could savor his victory, Security had arrived and fired a blast of heavy stun. Misty regaining her breath crawled to George and mid-way through calling Sickbay for an emergency beam out, her husband was dead, his heart’s right ventricle having been pierced.
After the Drake’s return to Starbase, Misty was offered personal leave off, but she decided she’d be better off working in a science lab for a while, putting her mind to do some research. During this time she had come to some kind of peace with George’s death and after a while, the allure of exploring strange new worlds and civilizations had come back to the fore
Best Time: Several- being accepted to Star Fleet Academy; this was announced with no fanfare on a hallway public monitor outside of the main Academy auditorium. Misty let out a little squeal of delight and then enjoyed the embrace of her family members who made a special trip to Earth from Deneva.
Receiving her commission, and getting assigned to the Titan as a Science Midshipman; Misty was on cloud nine, enjoying the various parties with classmates before being scattered amongst the feet. Misty was surprised and honored that her childhood friend Margo had come to Earth to congratulate her in person. They talked all night, that first night, and while attending one party then next day Margo began a relationship with a new Medical Midshipman.
Getting married, the romance between herself and George had been whimsical and magical, culminating into the exchange of marriage vows in deep space, on Deck 10, the Banquet Hall. The Chaplain, Vedek Bru, Landras, performed a lovely, spiritual ceremony that was an amalgam of several religious and spiritual forms from a dozen different planets and cultures. The reception was held in the Holodeck, and had an ancient Celtic theme, with lively flute and drum music...a good time had been had by all attendees. The wedding night was incredible…
Most Crucial Experience: Being lost in a bog (in a two person canoe) at age 16 with her best friend. The shame of it was that Misty and Margo initially split up from their school group as a joke. The joke was on the two young women however, in that they couldn’t locate their group. The trip was designed as a fortifying, primitive experience, thus no location or tricorder technology was allowed.
Being separated from the main group, the girls’ were attacked by a hungry Denevan bog rat. The large beast sprang from the water like a Terran gator. Claws and teeth made scratches, but Misty held her wits and took a blanket and covered a portion of the beast within it. As it hissed in frustration at its prey not being an easy take, Margo had grabbed an oar and began pummeling the beast. Misty grabbed a hunting knife and before she could bring it to bear on the crazed creature, the altercation rocked the canoe and within short order the small boat capsized spilling everything and everyone into the chilly swamp waters. Now in the swamp creature’s element, things looked bleak for the girls. Miraculously, Misty had still held on to the knife and just as the bog rat took a tentative bite from Margo’s neck, Misty thrust the knife with all of her might somewhere into the rat’s body. The beast released Margo and shrieked horribly, and then quickly swam off.
Their wounds minor, the young women silently turned the canoe back over, grabbed what supplies they could (which wasn’t much) and then got themselves back into the canoe. Too tired to yell and scream or attempt any further rowing, the Misty and Margo huddled together for warmth and fell asleep.
Over the next two days, paddling from one similar bog scene to another, they came across a small island. Searching the island, the girls came across a wonderful item, a partially hidden remote sensor array...Misty and Margo were rescued six hours later.
Role Model: Her parents.
