Starbase 53 is a Federation starbase during the late-24th century, located on the border of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.

Located in the Largo star system, this starbase is slightly more military in nature than other starbases.

In 2374, a Section 31 operative threatened to bring Dr. Julian Bashir to this base further interrogation.
In a 2400 incident, Captain Benjamin Sisko and the USS Defiant crew were brought to this base after travelling to 2400 from 2374.
