In late 2373, this starbase was designated the "Virogen Task Force Headquarters" following the outbreak of the virogen virus in the Federation.
(This virus, in humanoids, caused fever and abdominal cramping during the first thirty hours, after which these symptoms subsided, but the affected continued to be a carrier.)
