This species had developed technology that allowed them to revive a deceased person as long as 72 hours (3 Earth days) after brain-death.

This was done by utilizing nanoprobes in order to reverse cellular necrosis, while also stimulating the cerebral cortex.
The Borg used this acquired technology to revive its drones in certain instances, instead of abandoning them once they were expired.
