Polaron

A polaron is a type of elementary particle.

• The Borg use a polaron beam to scan other spacecraft.

• Polaron radiation is fatal to humanoids, and has a destabilizing effect on Changeling physiology.

• The Dominion use phased polaron beams as their primary weapons.

• In 2377, the Voyager crew used a polaron modulator to create a shield bubble around all of the allied ships in order to escape a spatial anomaly they called "the Void."
