Personal History

Born and raised in the busy city of Philadelphia, Maggie never intended to look for trouble; it always found her first. Having opinions, she figured that the world needed to hear them. When it was clear that her brother Jackson was too busy for his “shrimpy sisters,” Maggie turned to her friend Delia. When they had first met in school, the two had strongly disliked each other. Over the years however, Maggie became less obnoxious, and Delia a tad less pretentious, and they grew on each other. Soon dubbed the ‘Duo of Disaster,’ they voiced their opinions and tried to change the world any way they could. With a love for warfare history, and adrenaline that let her think on her feet, Maggie was -to be polite- energetic and a tad eccentric. Delia on the other hand, was more reserved, but had quite a fury when she wished to release it. Together, they were a handful; one always having the other’s back.

Since her older brother Jackson was always out with his friends, Maggie found comfort in a friend named Delia. At first contentious with each other, the two quickly became close. With a love for warfare history, and adrenaline that let her think on her feet, Maggie was -to be polite- energetic and a tad eccentric. Delia on the other hand, was more reserved, but had quite a fury when she wished to release it. Together, they were a handful; one always having the other’s back.

Unfortunately, as they got older, Delia slowly started to fall in with the wrong crowd. When she became of age, Maggie’s parents decided it would be best if she enrolled in Starfleet Academy. Not wanting to leave her friend, the relationships Maggie held with everyone were quite hostile for a while, before she realized the big picture. Having an Uncle at the Academy helped Maggie’s family pull a few strings, and Maggie was able to attend the Academy right under the deadline.

Once at the Academy, Maggie found her passion in the field of Tactical studies, and breezed through a year and a half of classes. However, in the middle of her second year, the young woman was involved in a rather serious incident. The so-called bar fight now labeled “classified,” the 19-year-old was left near-decapitated. Medically dead for 8.3 minutes, surgery left her with an irreversible scar along the underside of her right jawline, from the base of her ear to her throat. Surprisingly, only six months of speech therapy was needed, and Maggie moved on with her Tactical training, the studies more personal to her now.

About two years later, Maggie graduated from the Academy. Her tactical studies had become intertwined with her now-heightened survival techniques, a sensibility she gained from the bar fight and fighting classes she had taken during her recovery and therapies. Though she did not graduate near the top of her class, the woman reasoned that memorization of facts and actual execution were two different things – and it was the latter that really counted. While her classmates were content to be assigned what Maggie saw as “desk jobs,” the young woman craved to be assigned a Starship, and put her knowledge and training to good and practical use.

Assigned to the USS Ticonderoga, Maggie’s first real mission had been relaxing until two of her most hated situations were used against her. She and a few others were kidnapped and held hostage by a small group of Ferengi androids. With communications to her ship and other crewmates totally cut off, the Midshipman was able to create a bastardized phaser and use it to help fight off the android until she was released from hostage. When promoted, she was awarded a medal for her heroics during the “Lobe Globe” mission.

During the Ticonderoga’s mission to Carraya, the ship found itself separated from the rest of the fleet. It was soon boarded by cybernetic Klingons: a contrast that shocked Murphy so much that her inability to fight them only subsided at the last minute, and she was able to help her crewmates take back the ship. During this mission, a cybernetic Klingon tried to take over the Bridge, and Murphy threw herself on a grenade in an effort to save the First Officer and the rest of the Bridge crew. Later, Murphy was awarded the Diamond Star for her actions, and the Ensign was promoted to a Lieutenant, Junior Grade.

Before the Ticonderoga was sent to Yallada on a political mission, Maggie was given a field promotion to Lieutenant, with a position of the Acting Chief Tactical Officer. Despite itching to go on away mission, Murphy was kept on the ship, and acted as the main hub of Tactical as per her promotional responsibilities. When the Ticonderoga and other ships came under attack, Murphy was able to disable the enemy ships, even when a kerchan arrived. The fleet was told to recall rather quickly after the space fight, and the Ticonderoga was towed back to Starbase Bravo.

Barely able to catch her breath on Shore Leave, Maggie was called for a secret recon mission into the Neutral Zone along with a select few of her crew mates. They were quickly outnumbered and a fire broke out in the small ship. Maggie, who was severely burned from putting out the fire, was treated in the Ticonderoga’s Sickbay when the mission ended. She soon after came down with a case of the Bolian Flu, and was incapacitated through the rest of Shore Leave and throughout the Ticonderoga’s next mission.

Finally back on her feet, Maggie felt the itching sensation to leave Starbase Bravo. With the Ticonderoga returned, the young woman looked forward to the next mission briefing, and spent her last remaining free time taking her dog to one of the ship’s holodecks. However, fate had other plans for her, as a wormhole-similar anomaly plucked the woman and her pet from the ship. There was left no trace of Maggie or her dog, save on PADD on which the woman was composing a letter. Over one year later, the same or similar quantum singularity unceremoniously dumped the two beings back into their universe, leaving the pair in severe condition. It took weeks for the woman to recover on Starbase Bravo, but it would take much more for her dog to do the same.

After a few inquiries, Maggie was all too happy to take a position as a Lieutenant Tactical Officer on board the USS Dauntless. Though she would be forced to leave her dog behind on Starbase Bravo, the still-unsure woman knew that the only way to help her situation was to move forward.
