Personal History
Born to Doctors Bridget and Seamus O’Shea. Her mother was a talented surgeon and a strong woman. Her father was a pediatrician. She learned a love for Gaelic language and history from her father and a dedication to medicine mainly from her mother.
Middle child of three kids, she had a combative childhood blamed on her short stature and red hair. Her Parents remained as civilians, while her brother joined the Marines as soon as he could. Her sister Marie married at 18, pregnant with the first of 5 children.
Kendra graduated top of her class from the Oxford School of Medicine at 21, and completed her residency by her 30th birthday. She was an excellent physician with a bright future until the Second Romulan war broke out. Her brother’s Marine unit was being deployed and she felt that she needed to step up.
She attended Star Fleet Academy and was posted to a ship after graduation. She eventually served in the most recent Romulan war, where she served with distinction, normally in all of the most dangerous settings and was wounded during the final days, but persevered to return to work in 3 days.
Between the conflicts the marriage with her husband became too difficult for them both. He wanted to remain on Earth and following her brother’s example was now convinced that her role was ‘out there’.
Similar history in the Krynar conflict until her hospital was overrun and she was chosen to be enlightened by the Krynar. She has only spoken of what happened and how she broke out of it to her counselors who enthusiastically endorsed her for active duty a year later.
When she discovered that her daughter Samantha was being abused by her husband she intervened at the request of her ex-husband who feared for their child and grandchild lives. Kendra took Samantha and her grandson with her on her next posting while she applied for a starbase posting. Life on a starship was not a great place to raise William.
