Personal History
Born in the warm waters of Pacifica, close to the largest landmass on the O Class planet, the island of iy'Dewra'ni. Ellyvia was one of a large number of offspring and brought up by her mother Eillari. As per Selkie tradition, Ellyvia's father had nothing to do with the upbringing of his children and Ellyvia has never known his identity.
During her amphibious first part of her life, Ellyvia grew up with many friends and enjoyed life. Her family life was happy and normal, her education comprehensive with her interests in languages and biology. As she grew older she and her friends grew more gregarious, mischievous, and often strayed into the areas frequented by Off-worlders. These people were fascinating to Ellyvia, and as with many Selkie she entered into many physical yet brief relationships with aliens. It was one of these relationships that got her into the most trouble she could possibly find; she became pregnant to an off-world dignitary, and a married one at that. Unfortunately their tryst became public and scandalous. The dignitary lost his post and Ellyvia was punished by Selkie society. Producing hybrid offspring had the side-effect of expediting her change from amphibian to the aquatic phase of life. Unable to bear the stigma of scandal, Ellyvia and her mother came to the mutual agreement that she should leave Pacifica and pursue a career off-world. Ellyvia applied to join Star Fleet Academy. Ellyvia never saw her offspring, nor did she learn their gender or get to select their names, or even see them, and upon leaving home has not had contact with her mother, family or offspring at all. She hopes that one day she can return and make amends, but first seeks to make some good of her life as a productive and useful member of a starship crew out among the stars.

Weaknesses: must wear a hydration suit or other breathing apparatus when not in water

Prejudices: Finds Antedeans boorish and duplicitous.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: On land: hydration suits of different colour than duty version. In water: prefers no clothing but wears bathing suit when in company of others for the sake of their modesty.
Distinguishing Features: Smooth blue-green skin, swim bladder, nictitating membrane (third eyelid) on eyes, gill crests running from the top of her head and down her back, webbed feet, partially webbed hands.
Pets: None.
Friends: Tel'yara'ni, friends since amphibious childhood, the pair were inseparable. Tel'yara'ni did not enjoy the same contacts with off-worlders that Ellyvia did. She did not understand her friends fascination, but she has remained best friends with Ellyvia throughout her disgrace. The pair have been in contact every week since Ellyvia left Pacifica and journeyed to Earth and Star Fleet Academy.
