Note: This species is nearly extinct.

The Husnock were a humanoid species with feline traits. They were likely descended from a species of non-Terran "great cats", making them similar to the Mirak and Caitians. The Husnock are extinct save for a group of 12 individuals.

The USS Copernicus encountered 6 surviving Husnock (2 females and 4 males) and Captain Elisa Godard attempted to resettle them on a planet called Cygnet VIII, a suitable home world which contained only scattered pre-warp civilisation. The 6 Husnock were volatile and unpredictable and fled the protective custody of Captain Godard before being properly resettled on Cygnet VIII. Two were known to have been killed on the planet, while the fate of the remaining four is unknown (see USS Copernicus Mission Logs Into The Void).

Physiology

A full-grown Husnock stood at between 6' and 7'. Their feline traits included cat-eyes, tufted pointed ears, fur, and retractable claws on the hands and feet. Other than that, they appeared humanoid.

Eye color varied within the Husnock species. The following colors were possible:

  • blue
  • green
  • gray
  • pink
  • red
  • silver
  • violet

Fur color also varied:

  • black
  • black-and-orange tiger striping
  • blond
  • blue-gray
  • brown
  • brown with rust-colored streaks
  • calico (black/golden/white)
  • golden
  • silver-gray
  • white

Society

The Husnock were prone to violence, and one ship attacked and destroyed the colony on Delta Rana IV. That is where a Douwd was living as a human. In his anguish, he lashed out in revenge and exterminated all the Husnock from existence, or so he claimed. However, there is evidence that some Husnock managed to survive this purge. A dozen of them were in stasis inside a tesseract on an alien ship, and apparently were beyond the Douwd's perceptions.

The Husnock were known for their higher intelligence and "hideous" destruction.
