Dorvan V is an inhabited planet, which was home to a Federation colony during the 24th century.

It has at least one continent, as well as mountains and rivers. One of the colony's facilities included a habak.[1]

Around 2350, a group of Native North Americans settled this planet, and built a village in a small valley on the southern continent.

This settlement went forward, despite warnings to the colonists that the planet was in Cardassian space. The group had left Earth in roughly two hundred years before, with the purpose of preserving their cultural identities. The colonists settled on Dorvan V due to the the planet having not only the right environmental conditions, but also chosen for it "being welcoming in a spiritual way."

In 2370, after three years of drawn out negotiations, the Federation-Cardassian Treaty defined the border between the Federation and the Cardassian Union. The new border placed several Federation colonies inside Cardassian space, as well as several Cardassian colonies inside Federation space. [{Starfleet]] planned to evacuate Dorvan V, one of the planets/colonies now in Cardassian space. It was felt by both sides that the Dorvan settlers were a nomadic group, and never should have settled on a disputed planet in the first place.

The USS Enterprise was sent to relocate the settlers, with orders to remove and relocate the colony by whatever means necessary. Refusing to move, the colonists renounced their Federation citizenship, and agreed to be governed by the Cardassian government.
