Personal History

Trever Cole was born early in the fall to Howard and Julia Cole. He was the middle child of three. His sister, Laura, was 2 years younger than him and was the smartest. She always did well in school and was well on her way to a successful career as a genetic biologist. Biology was her passion and she was driven. She loved her brothers, but with the schedule she kept, she had little time for family. She loved them but it was always this text book or this school project or this extracurricular activity that kept he in her own world.

Trever’s brother, Michael, on the other hand, was 4 years older than him and very much similar. Trever and Michael were more mechanically inclined. Growing up, they started out small, taking apart toys and tools in the quest to find out what made them tick. As they grew, so did their curiosity. But it was to be expected. They took after their father who came from a long line of ship builders. The boys took every opportunity they could to tag along with their father to work. They wanted to see the inner workings on a grand scale.

As they started to come of age, both boys knew they wanted to follow in their father’s footsteps. They had shipbuilding in their blood. It was a natural fit. Then one evening, Howard brought home a guest for dinner. He introduced the man as Zor Kayzon, a former Starfleet officer who had resigned his commission as Chief Engineer of the USS Pulsar and was now working in Research and Design for the shipyard. While Michael seemed mildly interested in their guest, Trever was captivated. It was

practically to the point where he monopolized most of the conversation with question after question about StarFleet, the Engineering Corps, and starships. The more he heard, the more he wanted to know.

As it turned out, Howard was assigned a temporary duty on a project being lead by Mr. Kayzon. His visits to the Cole home were more frequent as well as he and Howard had become friends. Trever took full advantage of every visit to feed his curiosity, until he finally realized maybe his path in life was not going to shadow his father. He decided that he wanted to be a Starfleet engineer and from then on his focus was on admittance to the Academy.

Just after graduation, Mr. Kayzon managed to call in a favor or two and get Trevor assigned to his project overseeing the installation and build out of the engineering section of one of the new starships. He explained to Trevor, who had no argument, that it would be the best experience he could get to see things from the ground up, so to speak.

To Trevor, it was a great privilege to work with Zor and he was able to learn quite a bit from both the man and the project. But as the ship neared completion, he knew he didn’t just want to keep building all his life. Now he wanted to move on to the bigger things. So he put in for a transfer. Shortly after his request was submitted, he was rewarded for his work with a promotion to Ensign and granted a transfer to the USS Yeager. And so the next step in his career began.
