Cardassian Rebellion

The Cardassian Rebellion, also known as the Cardassian Liberation Front, was an integral part of the end of the Dominion War.

A popular uprising against the occupation of Cardassia by the Dominion in 2375, it is also viewed as one of the most pivotal movements of recent Cardassian history.

The revolt had little military impact on the Dominion War as a whole, and was quickly crushed by the Jem'Hadar forces. From a morale standpoint, the uprising forced the Dominion to divert resources to putting down the rebellion, instead of launching a massive attack against the Federation-Klingon-Romulan alliance. The Cardassian Rebellion ultimately proved to be the perfect distraction to allow the Federation and its allies to win the war at the Battle of Cardassia.

When the leader of the Dominion ordered the entire Cardassian population wiped out due to the rebellion's insolence, Jem'Hadar troops marched across the planet, slaughtering every Cardassian they came across.
With help from a few Federation fighters, the Jem'Hadar command center was destroyed, and the Dominion's leader caught. Forced to surrender, the Dominion War was declared over.

At the end of the Cardassian Rebellion and Dominion War, over 800 million Cardassians were murdered by the Jem'Hadar, and innumerable buildings had been destroyed as well. Cardassia Prime had been left in ruins.
