Overview
Betazed, or Beta Veldonna V is a Class M world that is very Earth-like in appearance with large blue oceans. The aboriginal name of Betazed is Cyndriel and is the fifth of 8 planets in the system. It has a single moon, Lonita, which is of Class K rating, and houses a large colony of Betazoids.
The planet Betazed is an important member world of the United Federation of Planets. Previous Betazed Federation ambassadors have included Lwaxana Troi, Daughter of the Fifth House, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed.
Betazed hosted the biennial Trade Agreements Conference in 2366.
The USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-D passed fairly close to Betazed in late 2367 and diverted its course to pick up Lwaxana Troi.
Deep Space 9 was quite far from Betazed, although a transport from the space station often left for the planet.
Vash was unwelcome (persona non grata in Q's words) on Betazed.
The University of Betazed is located on Betazed.
History
During the Federation/Dominion War in 2374, Betazed was occupied by Dominion invasion forces. The Federation Tenth Fleet had been assigned to defend Betazed, but was caught out of position on a training exercise. As a result Betazed fell to the Dominion within ten hours. Once Betazed had been captured, other worlds nearby, including Vulcan, Tellar, Alpha Centauri and Andor were at risk of Dominion invasion.
Betazed was invaded and occupied again by Dominion forces during the First General War, 2394-2398. This occupation was harsher on the Betazoid people than the previous one with many Betazoids being taken away by Jem'Hadar forces and forced to use their abilities to benefit the Dominion and the RDC

Government
Matriarchal. The order of government line on Betazoid consists of Peace Keepers, which are not unlike Peace Officers, and higher government officials. Peace Keepers are trained in telepathic battle, and they are kept under careful control and consideration. Higher Government officials are much like a Republic system, and little is known further.
Climate/Geography
Varying, from dense jungle, to wide canyons and cliffs. Much of the major continents are dotted with lakes, and water on Betazoid is considered an everyday necessity as the ancient Romans thought it was.
Chameleon Rose
This is a very beautiful flower that looks much like a rose, and it changes colour according to the holder's emotion. Red denotes anger, purple denotes peace, and pink denotes serenity and love. Yellow shows enlightenment and telepathic energy, and blue is often thought to signify bonding and extreme love. It's origin is in jungles and underbrush.
