Physiology

Valerians resemble and in fact are genetically compatible with Terrans. Their bodies seem to conform, as some other species do, to the human norm very closely. Their organs are almost identical, except that they tend to be denser and thicker. Their blood types are compatible with humans as well. Their density and size is mostly due to the fact that they evolved to live on their homeworld which has 2.4 times Earth normal gravity.

Valerians are slightly shorter than humans (a VERY TALL Valerian is 5’8”, the norm is just under 5’ tall), but wider, due to the higher gravity. Their skin pigmentation is similar to northern European Terran, and Slavic groups. Valerians tend to be colored like very pale humans, although some from the tropical regions or having been exposed to other planets sometimes do tan to a golden color.

Planet of Origin

The Valerians are originally from Earth, but when they left is not known. They consider their home planet to be Valeria. It is located to the galactic “north” of the “eastern” region of the Cardassian Union. It is a neutral world that is unaligned.

Society

Valerians are not widely spread through the galaxy. Although they have achieved warp travel, they tend to stick to themselves, and have not colonized.
