Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards
The Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, or Utopia Planitia Shipyards, is a key Star Fleet vessel construction and design facility in the 24th century.
Spanning from land-based portions, all the way to geosynchronous orbit above the planet, the facility included several large drafting rooms for starship design, as well as planetary facilities on the surface of Mars. There were also a number of drydocks and space stations in orbit. The orbital part of the yards was positioned in synchronous orbit 16,625 kilometers above the Utopia Planitia region on Mars. The yards were made up of a number of separate facilities. The main complex of the shipyards was Utopia Station One, where a large docking port allowed starships to dock.
The "Galaxy Class Starship Development Project", including the majority of ship construction, design work and system model tests, was based out of the Mars Station at Utopia Planitia.
Planitia also features facilities for civilians, including teaching facilities for children.
