Personal History

With the peace treaty between the Kriosians and Valtese in place, trading began the two peoples in the late 24thcentury. Working on one of the first trading vessels between the two planets as doctor and cargo handler, Naalantra and Alrin gave birth two their second child, Trinalla. The journey between worlds was not a long one, and every few months the family took leave on their home world. Trinalla remembers very little of this time, though her favourite memories were of laying in the grass with her older brother Hanesh.

As competition grew for the routes between Krios and Valta, the transport her family worked decided to change routes and go on more lengthy journeys. Naalantra and Alrin were given attractive offers to stay on board due to many Kriosians wanting to stay close to home. They accepted, and Alrin was promoted to ship's quartermaster. Hanesh stayed behind on Krios to begin university studies. These are the years Trinalla remembers most, since the large cargo bays aboard the Kaitaama became her personal playgrounds. She would build forts among the large shipping containers, playing with the two other Kriosian children on board – Sojef and Milaat.

A youngster aboard a transport, Trin, Sojef, and Milaat had a knack for getting themselves in trouble. They would frequently sneak off the Kaitaama when docked at a station and see how long it would take somebody (whether their parents or station security) to find them. The one who was found last won. Kriosians also have varying degrees of empathy, the strongest of this ability found in empathic metamorphs. Because many cultures mistake Kriosians as Trill, the three youngsters liked to use this to their advantage and grifted many unsuspecting aliens.

As she got older, as is expected of any child who grows up on a freighter, Trinalla started doing various chores and duties around the ship. Her favourite ones were working down in the engine room, helping out and getting engine grease all over her. Though she was technically too young to pilot a ship, the Gamma shift helmsman – Sojef's father, Alrik - allowed her to sit at the helm. Taking her under his wing, Alrik taught her the basics of flight.

Her parents hoped she would take her sketching more seriously, and apply for the Academy of the Arts on Krios. Instead Trin enlisted with the Kriosian Sovereign Fleet, and with her experience aboard the Kaitaama she excelled in training as a flight operations mechanic and aviator. Life in the Fleet bored her, since Krios was at peace with those who had antagonized the planet before. Krios was a Federation protectorate, and as such her duties typically included escorting royal vessels on diplomatic missions or repairing ships that simply required routine maintenance. She wanted to get off of Krios - which she found stuffy compared to the planets she'd visited as a youth.

When Krios officially joined the Federation at the turn of the century, Trin saw this as her opportunity to leave. She applied to Star Fleet Academy and was accepted into an accelerated program due to her experience within the KSF. She enlisted in Star Fleet and was immediately accepted due to her experience within the KSF.

Graduating at the end of the Borg invasion, Trin was immediately thrown into a mechanic's position repairing damaged A-1 Fighter's aboard Starbase Bravo. At the end of the war, not satisfied with being stationed aboard a space station, Trin requested a transfer for shipboard duties at the edges of Federation space.

She was granted the request, and transferred to the USS Yeager, SC-8018 as shuttle pilot and technician. Being both an aviator and an engineer gave Trin a slight edge over tactical aviators, because she not only knew how to fly but she understood the dynamics of the craft and what could be pushed to the limit and what really couldn't. Trinalla was part of the team that retook Space Station Sierra-18 from the Vercours pirates, flying the shuttle that contained the marines for their tactical insertion on the station. She received the Mayweather Medallion for Flight, an award to aviators who show courage and quick thinking in battle.

Transferred to the station with the Yeager crew, Trin became a shuttlebay maintenance engineer. She enjoyed the challenge, because she had a variety of Star Fleet craft to work on (and fly, when she could get permission). When the Romulans invaded Sierra-18, Trinalla was among the handful of crew that managed to escape.

The Corps of Engineers Special Operations Division recruited her, where she served until joining the crew of the USS James Madison as Chief Engineer. Given the small size of the James Madison, having an enlisted serve as a department head wasn’t too far out of the way. Between her experience with the Corps of Engineers and her past experience in the Krios Sovereign Fleet, Commander Torkav saw her as a more experienced engineer than some of the junior officers who were available at the time.

Hating the paperwork involved with being a department head, Trin transferred away. Somehow she ended up back on the Yeager--but the new Yeager, the FSC-28018. The magic Trinalla had with engines drew the attention of many a Captain, but she didn't want to go back to the paperwork. Her passion was with engines and flying.

Eventually the ship fell under the command of the Corps of Engineers. Here Commodore Nielson noticed Trin's passion for engines. Trin had the opportunity to work on a new type of warp propulsion system.

Trinalla’s itchy feet have started to get to her. While she enjoyed her time with the Corps of Engineers, she’s anxious to get back into space and explore once more.
