Transporter suspension

The term "transporter suspension" refers to the act of using the pattern buffers of a transporter as a means of keeping an individual or individuals in stasis.
Captain Montgomery Scott was the first person to demonstrate the feasibility of such a procedure while on board the USS Jenolan.
Starships have used this technique in order to hide refugees, as was the case when Captain Janeway of the USS Voyager placed a group of telepaths in the transporter buffer in order to cross Devore space.
- Unfortunately, the refugees suffered acute cellular degradation, which was medically treated.
