The Taurean system is an area of uncharted space. The second planet of the Taurean system is home only to women.
The USS Enterprise, NCC-1701 was sent to investigate the system, due to reports of both Federation and Klingon ships disappearing every 27 years.
When they arrived, a signal from one of the planets in the Taurean system caused the male officers to hallucinate women.

It is presumed that the women of this area lure males for the purposes of procreation and the furthering of the species.
