Tarsus IV

Tarsus IV was the inhabited planet of its star system. It was the home of an Earth colony.

In 2246, an exotic fungus destroyed most of the colony's food supply, leaving the 8,000 colonists in danger of starvation.

The colony's Governor made a drastic decision: he ordered the deaths of four thousand, so that the other four thousand colonists might live.

He then selected those to be killed according to his own personal theories of eugenics.

• When their supply ship arrived earlier than expected, it was already too late to save the four thousand people the Governor already murdered.

Among the survivors of the Tarsus IV incident was James T. Kirk. In 2266, he was one of only nine eyewitnesses still alive.

By 2328, Tarsus IV was a noted destination for passengers traveling via commercial transport.
