The Tandarans are a humanoid species, originating from Tandar Prime, located in the Alpha Quadrant.

Tandarans are often recognized by a distinctive feature on the bridge of their nose, though they are minor variations among individuals.

Known History

An important fact in Tandaran history is their war with the Suliban beginning in or around 2144. Shortly after the war began, Tandarans began to question the loyalty of the unallied Suliban living in the Tandar sector of space. The Suliban in question were relocated to places such as Detention Complex 26.

In 2152, Tandaran forces shot down a shuttle carrying two Humans, Captain Jonathan Archer and Ensign Travis Mayweather, when they mistakenly entered a restricted military zone on the planet's moon. The Humans were detained and questioned, believed to have been possibly associated with the Suliban.

The Starfleet officers awoke in prison cells, and when they explored the corridors, discovered that all the inmates were Suliban. It was here that the Federation discovered not all Suliban were a part of the Cabal, a terrorist faction that took their orders from a mysterious, humanoid figure from the 28th century. Archer and Tucker learned that only members of the Cabal were genetically enhanced.

Culture

Tandarans are a highly militaristic society, strongly influenced by the ongoing conflict with the Suliban Cabal.
The war created an atmosphere of suspicion and fear, leading no Tandaran to trust a Suliban, as they believed all Suliban were a part of the terrorist organization.

Governed by a military-led system, high-ranking officials act as representative of Tandaran authority.

Warp-capable, this species and society had the capabilities to relocate and detain large populations. They also have access to starship and advanced communications technology, though it is unclear how long they have had this technology.
