1858 – "Donati's comet" became the first to be photographed. A bright comet with a spectacular curved dust tail, the picture was captured using a portrait camera at a low focal ratio.
1895 – Death of Louis Pasteur, famed French scientist. He is renowned for his discoveries of the principles of vaccination, with his research leading to breakthroughs in the understandings of causes and preventions of diseases.
1924 – The first Human aerial circumnavigation of Earth is completed by a team from the US Army.
1959 – Explorer VI satellite revealed an intense radiation belt around Earth, taking the first remote imaging TV pictures of Earth's meteorological conditions.
2008 – SpaceX launches the first ever private spacecraft, the Falcon 1 into orbit.
