Quarra is an Class M planet located in the Delta Quadrant. It was the homeworld of the Quarren species, as well as home to many other intelligent humanoid species.
Quarra is a industrious and technologically-advanced planet, with systems that require high levels of supervision and involve little automation, making it unique for a planet with a warp-capable society. The planet was protected by patrol ships and a shield grid that prevented transporter use.
This in turn causes the planet to require large amount of manpower. In 2377, this demand caused Quarra to suffer from a manpower shortage.
To cope with the labor shortage, their military sent out radioactive mines that would explode on a ship's hull and infect the crew. The crew would then have to abandon ship, and the Quarrens would take them back to their homeworld and commandeer the ship. Doctors at the planet's central hospital would then alter the abductees' memories to make them believe they willingly came to Quarra, in search of a job, that in reality had been prearranged for them.
