Personal History

Born in England UK, Callum grew up in his family home in York. His father was a doctor and his mother worked in Administration for the local medical facility. Hence, Callum’s interest in the medical field.

Callum did well at school and proved to be quite the academic, his best grades being in the sciences and history, also showing good skills in art and engineering drawing. Callum had a happy childhood and loved to draw, filling the walls of his bedroom with pencil sketches, a healthy percentage of them being of space and planets.

However, once graduated from school Callum had decided that he didn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps and desired some individualism.

With this in mind he began work for a outdoor pursuits centre at the age of 17 which was the only job he could find at the time and was only meant to be a temporary stop till he decide what he was going to be doing. However, once settled in at his new job Callum found it difficult to step out of his comfort zone and the job became more than a temporary fill in. Initially just in charge of a kayak store Callum progressed to tailoring event weekends for interested clients. He was never the outdoor man himself but was good at assessing people’s desires from initial interviews, developing his own interview questions and tailoring weekends and holidays ideally suited to the individual. Callum shone in this role but he knew that something was missing in his life and he battled with himself for several years realising that this was just a job and not his vocation. Growing increasingly unhappy over the years Callum knew he would have to take a leap into something new but couldn’t put his finger on where his heart was. Eventually it dawned on Callum that his job was holding back his maturity and now was the time to swallow his pride, admit that he’d make the wrong choice in life, and move on.

Following a couple of accidents on site Callum realised how desperately he wanted to help the injured and began a bit of soul searching, realising his stubbornness as a youngster in the process. Following conversations with his sister Chloe, who is the closest friend Callum has, he decided to follow the medical career, even if it was a little late to start.

After realising a lot of his school friends had gone into Star Fleet, that is where he decided to apply, still wishing to have some difference to his father’s career.
