Personal History

Coleman “Cole” was born on Luna Colony while his father was working there at a mining colony. An only child because his father was killed in a mining accident before he was actually born, Cole learned to be very independent growing up.

His mother returned to Earth and he grew up in a small town in New England, in the Northeastern USA, on land that had been in the family for generations.

Upon reaching adulthood, he went into law enforcement, serving first in a local police department in Florida and later being offered a position as police chief in a town in North Carolina at the young age of 28. He eventually moved into service working for the Earth Security Forces, and worked his way up into a senior investigative position with the TBI – Terran Bureau of Investigation. From there he joined the military and worked his way into the ranks of Earth’s Star Fleet.

Cole has never served on a starship (as most have not), but has served on several facilities both on Earth and in orbit of the homeworld. He was never left the solar system and in fact the furthest from Earth he has been is the moon, and then only as a child.

He now serves as Star Fleet’s security commander, and is responsible for all Star Fleet security, tactical, and MACO operations.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Security Procedure, Criminal Law
Academy Minor(s): Forensic Investigation Technique, Personnel Command
Hobbies and Pastimes: Cole likes to play golf. A lot. Quite often when looking for him during off hours his assistant finds him at one of the several golf courses on Earth.
Personality: Light, fun, tries not to take life too seriously, but buckles down on things when needed.
Sense of Humor: Unlike the Vulcans he’s had to endure, Cole likes to tell jokes—usually dirty or at least inappropriate ones.
Phobias: Being lost in space, one of the reasons he’s stuck close to home.
Likes: Golf. I thought we covered this?
Dislikes: The Vulcans he’s had to endure. Although he does enjoy ribbing them or saying things that make them uncomfortable—oh wait they can’t be uncomfortable because that’s an emotion, right?
Pet Peeves or Gripes: People who are too dry, and take live too seriously—like Vulcans.
Achievements: SFSECCOM is a pretty good achievement if you ask me.
Disappointments: Would like to spend more time with his wife and kids, but none of them golf so he doesn’t get much time with them.
Strengths: He has an excellent swing. But apart from that, he’s dedicated to the cause of Star Fleet, just so long as they don’t expect HIM to go out on one of those ships.
Weaknesses: Long putts. He needs to work on that. Also getting anything useful done in the office on sunny days.
Fears: Getting lost in space. And getting a double-bogey.
Prejudices: Vulcans. I thought we covered this. Oh, and they don’t golf well at all, just FYI.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Comfortable, loose-fitting, dark colors
Distinguishing Features: bald!

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: Losing a ball on the 7th hole. Hold on, actually painful? How about growing up without a father?
Best Time: Getting that hole in one at Pebble Beach back in 46. That was an awesome game. Oh and I guess when he broke that big case with the TBI—the one that was in all of the newsfeeds. It’s what launched him into his career here. Unfortunately the details were classified 2 years later so I can’t tell you what it was about.
Most Crucial Experience: The aforementioned case was pretty crucial to his career. Oh and marrying his wife was another good and crucial time. If he hadn’t married her, her father had a plasma rifle that might have discharged and blown a hole in Cole’s head. Apparently she’d missed one of her birth control shots…
Role Model: John Abernathy. Nobody anyone has heard of, but he was the guy who arrested Cole when he was 16 for… well that’s not important. But Abernathy fixed Cole and got him on the track to becoming a cop.
