Personal History

Wren was born to Rila and Arthur Gaglardi on Star Base 105. Rila was proprietor and cook for a small restaurant on the station that was modelled after a 20th century diner, called the End of the Universe Diner. Arthur was a Star Fleet engineer, who was content being the transporter operations chief, with no particular aspirations to move beyond that.

A somewhat mischievous and impulsive youth, Wren spent many an hour in the station’s brig. Part of the time her punishment included doing some of the menial chores at the diner. Wren actually enjoyed working in the diner, where she could hear the stories of the adventures the various Fleet personnel would go on. When it became clear that traditional punishments weren’t working, the Gaglardis reached out to the station’s Chief of Security, Commander Freya Barton, for help since Wren already looked up to the woman as role model. Barton taught Freya about martial arts, in an attempt to help her find some more focus and quell her impulsiveness.

Wren studied hard to get into Star Fleet Academy, but her scores in the Sciences were not quite high enough for her to be accepted. Her impatience won out, however, and instead of making a second attempt at the exam Wren decided to simply enlist. She excelled at hand to hand and sidearms classes, thanks to her training with Commander Barton.

A hard worker dedicated to the job, Wren earned her way up the ranks. During the Second Romulan War Wren was stationed on Space Station Sierra-18 when the Romulans overtook the station. The Star Fleet personnel aboard the station did their best to hold the line, but ultimately they had to retreat. Wren was on one of the last people on the station, providing covering fire for personnel fleeing onto various escape craft. As the last shuttle was loading up she was shot in the foot by Romulans. She was pulled to the ship, but her right foot was massacred; the Star Base Charlie medical teams did what they could, but they couldn’t save the limb below the ankle.

Wren was awarded the Purple Heart for her actions on Sierra-18.

A candidate for the limb regeneration program, Wren slowly went through rehabilitation. It was probably the most difficult year of her life, but she fought through the pain, depression, and self doubt and was returned to active duty with a new foot.

The Krynar Invasion occurred when Wren was a newly minted full Crewman. The Fleet was in need of more officers as war, and eventually the civil war, took its toll. Wren was offered a commission, and she spent a year doing officer’s training.

On away missions, she seemed to know when to listen to her gut. What used to be considered impulsiveness people started to refer to as her instinct.

She was assigned to lead an extraction team to rescue some settlers on a border world who were being attacked by Cardassian pirates. Unfortunately her instincts lead her wrong, and attempting to get a group to safety, three children in Wren’s group were struck and killed. An investigation into the mission relieved Wren of any wrongdoing--they agreed she’d made the right decisions at time.

Wren decided to take a leave of absence to deal with her emotions following that mission. Though it wasn’t the first time she’d lost someone on a mission, these deaths hang heavy in her heart. Her leave stretched on, to the point that the Fleet insisted she return to duty or lose her commission. Wren returned, but things weren’t the same. She was reluctant to go on away missions, has taken a step back from doing active assignments, and often second guesses on the job decisions (no longer trusting her gut). Fleet and her superiors were understanding for a while, but eventually they began to get impatient with this. She was transferred to three separate postings in the past two years.

Recently she was transferred to the Pegasus to fill a gap in their security department. Her previous superior made it clear that this would probably be her last chance to shape up.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Security Procedures, Sharpshooting
Academy Minor(s): Hand to hand combat
Hobbies and Pastimes: Wren is very skilled with long-rang hand weapons, and enjoys target shooting on the holodeck. Recently she’s taken up archery as a new skill to master. She also loves 20th century dancing (preferably swing dancing), and is a voracious reader. Wren also loves to cook, and avoids the replicator if possible.
Short-Term Goals: Trying to build her self confidence back up
Long-Term Goals: Feels a sense of obligation to “make up” for the deaths of those children
Personality: Friendly, but somewhat closed off. Currently somewhat apathetic towards the job
Sense of Humor: Needs more laughter in her life
Phobias: Suffers some anxiety regarding children

Achievements: Purple Heart. Star Fleet Marksman of the Year 2410. Being offered a commission.
Disappointments: Not being able to save those three children
Illnesses: Her right foot is a regrown replacement. Wren swears it aches from changes in temperatures, though Medical cannot find anything that would explain it.

Weaknesses: Currently wracked by self doubt. The sciences
Fears: More people dying on her watch.
Prejudices: None.
Pets: A fat feline named Bear.
