An asteroid belt, also referred to as an asteroid field, is a collection of asteroids.
The field usually orbits a star in a roughly toroidal or circular shape. Asteroids in these collections range from grain-sized to many kilometers in diameter.
Asteroid fields also contain space debris, and are commonly the remains of a planet's destruction.
Asteroids in belts/fields are classified by size, atmosphere types, and shapes.
