The translocator was an extremely advanced high-energy transporter device created by the Nyrians of the Delta Quadrant.
Although incredibly powerful and precise. It had a transportation range of 10 light years. It was discovered by Captain Kathryn Janeway that the translocator could only transport one person at a time at its maximum range. At this range, the translocator was limited to simultaneous transport of one person to and one person from a location. The translocator can, however, transport multiple at closer ranges.
