Samik was posted as a Midshipman to the Star Fleet Science Institute in Seattle, North America. Her goal was to obtain a posting onboard a starship, believing that her skills would be better used to conduct exploration and discovery missions. Thus broadening her knowledge in medicine.
Eighteen months later, Samik was promoted to Ensign and assigned to the USS Charon's Science team. Only time would tell if the assignment would suit her needs.
Following the ill-fated second mission of the USS Charon, several of the Junior Officers were redeployed, Samik being one of them and as such was transferred to the USS [[Titania]].
