Personal History

Samik was born on Vulcan to S'Varin and Talik, both members of the Vulcan Science Academy. Her upbringing was typically Vulcan and rigorous with study. History could be described as the first passion of Samik's, though she would not describe it as such. Later her choices spread to the varying species of the known galaxy.

She had an older brother called Seral, who is 15 years her senior. The siblings didn't have much to do with each other; they spent most together was during the first three years of Samik's life. At the age of 18, Seral was accepted into the Vulcan Science Academy, where he forged a successful career and attained the rank of Captain, and was given a ship to command.

Like her parents and brother, she developed a fascination with science and particularly biology. Their parents were excellent teachers, but they always reminded her to prioritise her school tutors' teachings.

When Samik came of age, it was expected that she would join the Vulcan Science Academy to follow her parents' footsteps; her mother, by that point, had become a Professor.

Samik had learned of other ways to study in the scientific field, through study and word of mouth. She found a great potential of possibilities in Star Fleet, she was accepted on her first attempt.

Talik and S'Varin did not take the news well; a Human would likely say they were disappointed and upset by it. But of course, they would deny that, and a detailed discussion about emotion and logic would be presented. Despite the disapproval of her parents, Samik was supported by them.

Star Fleet Academy

Samik left to join Star Fleet Academy and entered a new chapter of her life, one she dedicated all of her strength and commitment to.

At the Academy, Samik learned about new cultures and various ways of life from students from other races; it was a significant and educational time for her.

Upon finding at least some mutual ground with her fellow Cadets, she began what Humans would consider friendships, friendship in Vulcan terms. Many would consider Cadet Molly Sinclair as her best friend. The deduction was not unfounded due to the time the two spent together, with mutual studies. However, Samik was reluctant to make such a claim.

Molly was a native of Northern Ireland, from a place called Mayo. Samik was invited to visit with Molly several times; the locals of Mayo were very friendly and welcoming. The Vulcan found the area to be simple, and that was refreshing. The green rolling hills and countryside were pleasing in appearance. Samik was so taken by the place that she had promised to revisit North Ireland in the future.

During a training exercise where Molly and Samik were paired, Samik fell from the ledge of a rocky outlet that'd crumbled beneath her. The fall broke the Vulcan's left leg, and any chance of moving her was nil. Though Molly fell too, her injuries were minor cuts and bruises, and she was able to assess Samik's injuries. Sinclair did what little she could with Samik to help, but the experience was terrifying for the Human.

While awaiting the arrival of a medical team, Samik and Molly were able to talk about their bond; friendship in the mind of the Vulcan was a tricky subject to discuss. Particularly the area of best friends, close friends. They both agreed that perhaps Samik was a little too analytical after the Vulcan explained her views on friendship and that each friendship had different values.

Though they didn't fall out, Molly's attitude differed towards Samik; she found the reaction troubling and believed it illogical. It was clear that the Vulcan had much to learn about the emotions of others, particularly the one called friendship.

Samik found that she developed a fascination with botany and archeology, mostly through social discourse with her fellow students. So in her spare time, it would not be uncommon for her to studying either subject. She hoped that the opportunity to return to the Academy and study those subjects would present itself in the future.

Post Graduation

Samik was posted as a Midshipman to the Star Fleet Science Institute in Seattle, North America. Her goal was to obtain a posting onboard a starship, believing that her skills would be better used to conduct exploration and discovery missions. Thus broadening her knowledge in medicine. Eighteen months later, Samik was promoted to Ensign and assigned to the USS Charon's Science team. Only time would tell if the assignment would suit her needs.

Following the ill-fated second mission of the USS Charon, several of the Junior Officers were redeployed, Samik being one of them and as such was transferred to the USS Titania.
