|History=Charlotte, known most often as Charlie, had a good childhood with a loving family. Always energetic and happy she got on with those around her, accepting them for who they were as long as they accepted her. She was always good at Maths and loved science and anything computer related.
Her mother Marlena served as an engineer in Star Fleet before she gave birth to her first child. She was an engineer and Charlie loved her stories of the adventures she’d aboard ship. They inspired her daughter with an unshakeable loyalty toward Starfleet, and a determination to follow in her footsteps.
Charlie’s part Klingon maternal grandmother was abandoned as a baby and raised by an Earth colony, so the mystery of her inherited Klingon DNA remains unsolved.
William Roberts, by comparison, grew up in Pittsburgh and could trace his family back to before the Eugenics wars. He joined the diplomatic core straight out of university and met Marlena at a political conference. After their son Henry was born they returned to the US to raise their family and he entered politics.
Charlie’s parents were killed by a bombing at a political conference on Tellar Prime. No one had been brought to justice for the incident and Henry, Charlie’s brother, believed there was some sort of cover up. He was killed a few months later while doing some investigating of his own.
Charlie was at the Academy at that time but she has a resilient personality and although she grieved -- and was left with a general distrust of Tellerites -- she bounced back and graduated with honours.
Always one to have a lot of friends, Charlie has never made any deep connections beyond her immediate family. If asked about romantic preferences, she is mostly likely to say “whatever.” She's drawn to interesting personalities and humour and is very comfortable in her own skin.
On graduating, Charlie took an AI research post at Starfleet HQ while waiting for a suitable ship position to open up.
